Discover the UI

This tutorial assumes a fresh installation of Cavaliba version 3.24+, either on a laptop, server, or any environment. You should have the admin account password ready, and the database should be empty. If needed, refer to the quickstart guide to flush and restart with a clean installation.

Make sure you have the cavaliba CLI alias configured as described in the Getting Started guide.

After starting Cavaliba, navigate to the login page and authenticate as the admin user with your configured password.

Cavaliba Sign In

Note on Production Deployments: In production, you’ll typically replace the default admin account with proper user management strategies such as:

  • Internal directory accounts (LDAP/Active Directory)
  • Federated authentication (SAML/OIDC)
  • Named admin accounts specific to your organization

Interface Overview

The main Cavaliba interface is organized into several key areas:

Services Dashboard

Shows all available applications and modules where you can manage your infrastructure, users, and data.

Cavaliba Initial View

IAM (Identity & Access Management)

This section allows you to manage users, groups, and their permissions. We’ll explore this in detail in the next sections.

Asset Management

Where you’ll create and manage your data schemas and instances. Initially empty in a fresh installation.

Admin Section

Provides administrative tools and monitoring:

  • Logs - Track recent system activities; in production environments, logs are typically forwarded to external log collectors
  • Roles & Permissions - Define security policies and API keys
  • Import/Export & Pipelines - Configure data exchange and transformation workflows
  • Dataviews - Create custom data views and reports
  • Admin Tools - Special helpers and utilities for system administration
